Cruise Milford runs two boats — the Milford Adventurer and Milford Explorer — each capable of carrying 150 passengers, each deliberately capped at 75. The self-imposed limit is a quality statement: more deck space per person, cleaner sightlines at the waterfalls, less railing traffic during the Stirling Falls approach.
The 1 h 45 cruise leaves the Visitor Terminal, runs past Mitre Peak and Sinbad Gully, ducks under Fairy Falls (waterfall spray optional), reaches the Tasman Sea, then returns via Stirling Falls — where the skipper noses the bow into the spray. The nature guide narrates local geology, wildlife and Kakapo lore in English.
With seven departures a day between 08:45 and 14:45, Cruise Milford is the operator to pick if you need timing flexibility or want to walk up on the day. Wheelchair access is real: the main cabin is level-boarding.

Know before you go
- Paid parking at the Visitor Terminal is NZ$10/hour, card only.
- Free parking at Deepwater Basin — 30-40 minute walk to the terminal, fills up by 09:30 in peak season.
- Same-day walk-up availability is realistic outside peak season (Dec–Feb).
- Phone reception in Fiordland National Park is minimal — no Wi-Fi at Milford.
- Mobility parking outside the terminal; the main cabin is wheelchair-accessible.
