The famous images of Milford Sound (hundreds of waterfalls streaming down black rock faces) are only possible in wet weather. On a clear sunny day the fiord is beautiful, but you see maybe four or five permanent waterfalls: Bowen Falls, Stirling Falls, and a handful of smaller ones. When it rains, hundreds of temporary waterfalls appear within a few hours, cascading from every cliff edge.
Rain is what turns on the temporary waterfalls. If the forecast says rain, keep the booking and pack a jacket.

Pure Milford Gem of the Sound
A catamaran with a glass roof and large windows. From inside you look up at the cliffs through the roof without getting wet, which suits anyone who doesn't want to stand on an open deck in the rain.
